I Forgot How Bad It Was

The other day I had to run an errand
that required me to head towards Atlanta for just a few miles.
Oh BOY! (See my SPEED on the left?  5mph!!)
Since I retired in 2007 I have NOT been back in that mess!
Hope I never have to do it again!!
Give me those country roads and pastures, and an
occasional slow-down to wait on a tractor!

Arrival of Fall

My most favorite time of year has arrived....
according to the calendar.
There are subtle signs beginning to show up,
but I'm ready for campfires, fall colors, and cool breezes.

The "Monster" Egg

Slowly and surely, all of my new hens are starting to lay.
Of the 8 I got back in April, I'm thinking only 1 or 2
may be roosters.
Anyway, I'm getting 3 or 4 large eggs PER DAY now....
and once in a while one that is double yokes and huge!
I finally remembered to photograph it with the others.
Not sure which hen she is.... guess I'll look for the one walking bow-legged and proud.

Cleaning Up The Old Boy....

I don't usually do many pictures, but this summer I've had
ME in a bandana, sweating....
ME in a cowboy hat, again sweating....
and others I did NOT post. LOL
So here is one to show I CAN clean up a little.
I was heading out to play guitar with my singing group.
And we had a blast!

Finally RELAXING A Little

Labor Day weekend has come and gone.
But I finally found some time to abandon all my chores
and duties in the garden
to just pause....and look around at the beauty.
I spent a good hour sitting under the shade of a huge pecan tree, and noticed this unexpected view from the wrong side of the fence... so I snapped a shot to share.
(The actual flower bed is on the "other" side.  lol)

Labor Day Ends The Garden Season

While for some Labor Day marks the end of summer,
for me it means the end of my garden.
So today I put an end to my OKRA bed by pulling up
all the plants, and clearing up the debris.
(It was time---the freezer can't hold anymore!)
It's just ME... not the scarecrow!
Notice the tall okra plant with a new pod.. and I'm 6'1"...
It's DONE!!!

Singing Cowboys

I grew up with the "singing cowboy's" back in the 1950's.  Every Saturday morning on the little B&W TV we had with just 2 channels.   But I watched them all.
Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Tex Ritter, and the list could go on.  Now that era has long ago died.  But I still relish a good old rerun of those old days via B&W DVD copies of their movies.
And I've begun COLLECTING (where I can find them) cowboys, with hats on, playing a guitar.
And of all of them, Gene Autry was my favorite.
(I think I'm tearing up a little....)
