....and once he was settled down, along around 11:00 or so we got started on making another batch of my PEACH SALSA! (Now infamous among some blog circles...lol) Of course, this took most of the afternoon!! I forgot how time-consuming it was dicing all of those fruits and veggies!! Oh yes, I WAS THE DICER in all cases!!

Life is simple around here for the most part. Sometimes it gets busy, but it's still "simple" things... yesterday I made a new "gate" for my chicken pen. Since I'm letting them out every morning, and putting them up every night, it sure makes it simpler to do that.

My oldest "girl" in the flock took one fatal turn today. I suppose she was being her "adventurous" self as usual, and while scratching in my compost bins (she jumped up into them), she decided to jump on OUT of them. Apparently she went up on the top railing, and then jumped over into the back yard with my three dogs. It was quiet and quick, and since she didn't make a fuss, I'm thinking she didn't know what even happened.
The rains came last night, with thunder and lightning and wind. But this morning, all is calm, and my morning walk out to the garden was kinda "refreshing" as I strolled out to the chicken coop to feed my nine critters! I was surprised by these beautiful, wild purple morning glories along the fence. TODAY was the first day they have bloomed, so I wasn't really even aware they were there just waiting for this moment! I like NICE surprises... I get enough of the 'not-so-nice' kind.

This morning was a busy one.... cleaned up FOUR of my beds: tilled them up... added fertilizer....tilled them a second time... then PLANTED my second crops of snap beans, lima beans, and those purple hull peas. Sure hoping they do as well as the "first" garden!!

Spent this morning in the garden... before it got hot... well, almost. It got HOT before I quit.
Then it was to the porch swing for 3 hours, where I shelled those purple hull peas!!
(We put another 4 QUARTS in the freezer). That makes 8 total, plus we've eaten 2 meals that included the peas.
And while I was at it, the Mrs. was in the kitchen cutting up yellow squash...and more yellow squash. Made up another 3 squash casseroles for the freezer!!

If you understand the title, you're my age, at least! Ha!! Ok, maybe not.... anyway, today I was picking peas... for the SECOND time. This afternoon, shelling, and into the freezer. Of course, we are making squash casseroles too with all the yellow squash coming in right now. Garden life is busy!!
